Ouijas Are Fun

A few years ago I had a friend who lived in a guesthouse above a garage in the backyard of a large house in Alta Dena. We came across a Ouija board and decided one night we were going to have a séance slumber party. We were in an 80’s phase so we dressed up in our raddest jammies put on bright pink lipstick, smoked a few j’s and then it begun. We sat on her bed with the board and whiskey by our sides. We at first didn’t get anything, we just laughed and joked. Then the planchette started to move. We both looked at each other confused and for sure thinking the other one was doing it. I know I didn’t move it and she swore she didn’t move it. So we started to play. We asked questions about if they lived there before. If they wanted to be friends, if they wanted to hurt us and do they like having us there. At a certain point it got really spooky. We had to take a break. We found out that the spirits were two boys, preteens. They had died 30+ years before. We asked if they were murdered and we didn’t get a response. We had asked if they knew how they died and they said yes.

We came back to the board for a few more questions and the spirits were still with us. We asked if we could go and they said no. we would ask a few more things then ask if we could go and they said No again. We eventually just said good bye to end the séance. Now we can’t be sure it actually was two spirits, it may have been one telling us lies. We fell asleep feeling accomplished by our creepy paranormal chat session, watching a movie and hoping the spirits wouldn’t bother us while we slept.

Now in this guesthouse there weren’t regular windows. The windows had handles that you had to twist a bunch of times and it would lift the window up. There was one in the bathroom and 3 in the house space. The next morning we woke up shivering, it’s freezing in the room. We got up and saw all the windows were open to the max they could open. Each one the levers were twisted all the way. There was a high window that we would use a stepping stool to open it, one of us would always hold the stool because it was wobbly. That window was also open and there was a small handprint on the window. Much smaller than either of our hands.

It would take a few minutes to twist each window to open it and it took some elbow grease. We pulled out the Ouija board and asked for the boys to come back. We wanted to know if they opened the windows. They said yes. We asked why and they said, “play.” The next questions was if they wanted us to play a game with them. The response was a quick ,”NO.” So we asked again what they wanted. The planchette spelled out, S, T, A, Y. The word “STAY”. We both looked at each other and the room became very cold, the air thick. We became nervous and asked if we can go, “NO”. Then with our fingertips still on the planchette it spelled out “STAY” again. The chills were running down my back and all the hair on my arms stood up. We said we have to go and the planchette started to move again. We didn’t let it spell anything we just moved it to the word bye and took our hands off. We put the board away, the guesthouse was always colder after that day.

This is an actual photo of the board from the night we spoke to the little boy spirits.
